MaXhosa by Laduma Exhibition and Pop up Shop
We can expect an exciting line up of events when Laduma wows Port Elizabeth with his MaXhosa by Laduma Exhibition and Pop Up Shop opening event at Havana, Port Elizabeth at 18:00 this Thursday. Nothing should keep you from coming to literally one of the hottest events of this year . The exhibition will also run on 5-6 September from 13:00-17:00.
After multiple lifetime achievements, such as speaking at the What Design Can Do, winning the Premium Young Designer’s award for the Menswear category this year and showing his range at the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week, Laduma returns home to give thanks and show his appreciation for the people who have helped him along his path.
Siyabonga (Scoop) Ngwekazi will keep everyone entertained throughout the evening. We can expect to be hanging on Siyabonga’s every word, he is a presenter and writer. Siyabonga has a few notches on his belt, having hosted The Real Goboza show and co-hosting the 8th Annual Metro FM Awards
There is also a hot list of celebrity and high profile guests. Trevor Stuurman the famous blogger and the first winner of the Elle Style Blogger award in 2012, will make an appearance. Ceramicist, Andile Dyalvane, will also be attending the event. Dyalvane has been identified by the Cape Craft Design Institute as being one of the design Icons of the Western Cape.
Laduma said “ I’m most excited about the fact that I am doing a show which is highly anticipated at home. Which, is overwhelming in the sense that I studied here and so having gone to all the countries that I showcased my current collection at and Port Elizabeth being the last spot for me to showcase it makes me feel good”
Culture will be an important aspect of the event, there will be the same Xhosa praise singer that there was at Laduma’s last event.
With the backing of the event by sponsor Nelson Mandela Bay Development Agency, it shows what faith the town has in Laduma.
You can expect an event that Cape Town and Johannesburg audiences- even International audiences are dying for. You won’t get to see Laduma in his hometown in a relaxed yet sophisticated event anywhere else on the globe.
If last year’s event is anything to go by, having had a Xhosa Praise Singer, we will be blown away once again by the culture and energy of the event.
Tina Ngxokolo, Laduma’s sister, who is a PE based Fashion Designer will also have her eclectic clothing on display. Tina is also inspired by traditional Xhosa culture and her bespoke range will be on display at Laduma’s event.
The plan is to have this event as an annual event.
